In this year 2023, for many reasons of course, prices went up, however our budgets did not grow as we would wish they would. But then, it is of course the big question, especially for those who care, what to wear to keep up with the newest fashion styles. Well, it seems like this year the very new and a biggest trend is what to wear while owning less.
It is certainly a big adjustment, but on the other hand also a practical one. Our wardrobes have only that much space, and our living spaces do not grow either- right?
This completely new trend is called “functional wardrobe”, which actually means to keep in our wardrobes only these pieces that could be used in many different combinations. In this new shocking style we should keep only these garments that have variations in shapes, colors, fabric and cuts that permit you to be used in many different combinations. Make sure to also change your looks by combining layers. For example wear an open shirt with bomber jacket which is actually always timeless. The quality of the tissue is also a very important key in this trend.
Another big one, which we were used to see so far only on the red carpet, is the dramatic bombshell split. Glossy midis from Prada, colorful and silky florals from Givenchy are making their way to our everyday look.
Minis are back in favor and it is all about the tissue and color. Leather and pearl embellishments by Chanel and Givenchy. Exciting new color on the display- purple from Versace. And all in a very sexy minis and high above the knees.
It seems that not only minis got this year the sexy looks. 2023 Denims combined with asymmetric fitted shirts have the same idea. If you add to that a buckle bra you will get back to some of the 60-ties hippyish style. Who would think that this very particular trend will ever be back?
Cuts-out still hot and keeping their important place in the market, however smaller and less aggressive.
Different kind of blue color – bright celurean blue - is being proposed this year by Laura Weatherburn. Amazingly, it fits very well with all your black, natural, even red, no need to mention white of course, additions like belts, shoes, handbags and jewelry. I love that color.
Animal prints, especially when it comes to accessories, are still keeping their power of hot additions.
But what shocked me most this year, was the little Mermaid style with shimmering fabrics and fish-tail cuts falling down around every curve. Absolutely mesmerizing view.
Another one strikingly new trend are flannel shirts and botanical embroidery.
In general, compared to 2022, in the year of 2023 we see much less florals and mixed colors. All outfits are rather one color and one style. Feathers and sequins are much less in favor, although still regarded as classic additions.
As of the colors, what captured my attention is that metallic tainted fabrics are in a huge favor this year. On the top a rich carrot-red is suddenly fresh again. Everything of course in one shade top-to-bottom.
This year make-up trends are two opposites. Maximalism and minimalism. There is nothing in the middle. So, you either are into this classically simplifying gorgeous look or into very bright colors, glitter expanding in very unexpected ways. The more blush – the better. More elegance – as good as more blush, whatever you feel like to wear. In simplicity if there is more natural skin to be seen the more trending it is. This goes as far as even including less acne scar sharing.
Bold lips, as in the 30-ties, are back a-la-mode but this time we should see them more with a fresh skin combination than with lots of foundation and covering tricks.
You ask me about handbags trends? – The more creative you are the better. On the other hand, a mini black, classic leather bag is again in favor.
It seems, that this year we can finally wear what and how we want it. And this general trend I like the most.
